Tennis Time - Teaching Kids the Sport of a Lifetime by Coach Wendy
Tennis has been a huge passion of mine ever since I held the racket for the first time. As I got older, I couldn’t wait for my kids to feel the same way I do and I would have my lifelong partners. My son went in the direction of baseball but when I felt my daughter was ready, I put her in a tennis program and waited for her love of tennis to begin. To my surprise, she had the opposite effect.
Her youth tennis program was designed with multiple kids in different levels. She was unfamiliar with the club and the club never took the time to go over the simple basics of tennis. She felt so insecure since she could barely hit the ball and she was surrounded by kids she did not know personally. It was so different than my experience and that was when I started researching Tennis programs and came across a unique program out of Atlanta that was bringing the Tennis court to daycares and elementary schools and I knew in my heart this would have been a completely different experience for my daughter. By bringing Tennis to the schools, most kids will be at the same level, they will be surrounded by other kids they are familiar with and will also be familiar with their surroundings. I jumped in head first and in my first year of teaching, I started this enrichment program at 7 different schools and it has become a huge success.
Since starting this program, I have become Virtus certified as I do provide this enrichment program to other Catholic Schools around the area and I am part of USTA Serve program.
Tennis Time was created to provide an after school enrichment program to daycares and elementary schools. Classes are designed for young kids ages 3-10 and we provide all the tennis equipment including Age appropriate tennis rackets, Foam and low compression Balls, Tennis nets and much more.
